What is a minuta?

A minuta is the model text of a legal document — a contract, a letter or an application — with the structure and clauses already written, ready to be completed with your details. In Portugal the word is used for any template that serves as the basis for the final document.

In practice, "minuta" and "modelo" mean the same thing: the base text. The contract itself only exists once the parties fill it in and sign it.

Every minuta on Minuta.pt follows Portuguese law (Código Civil, Código do Trabalho and the NRAU for rentals) and is reviewed by lawyers. You get an editable Word file: fill in the highlighted fields, adjust what you need, then print it or sign it digitally.

For unusual situations — a dispute, large amounts or a contract that departs from the standard — have the final text reviewed by a lawyer.
